3 Ways to Wear Print Shoot

This week's shoot was for my magazine and i wanted to show ways in which to style print and wear clashing colours with pattern too. Here are a few i have chosen so far, but i have such an amazing model that there were so many to choose from and the pictures hardly needed editing at all.

Editing Finished of Shoot One

This week i have mostly been editing pictures for the San Nails blog and the pictures from my Neon shoot. Finding semi professional models is still a big and strenuous job as their availability and reliability to respond cannot be relied on, so me and a few friends decided to scout loads of models on model mayhem and create a Facebook group solely dedicated to models. This means its an easy access hub for models to let us know when they can shoot and who is available.
I have also done product shots of nail varnishes and tools for my magazine this week so just need to crop and edit those ready for the tutorials.
These aren't my final edits as obviously they may change during the process of the rest of the magazine; I visited my tutor who is a photographer/retoucher and he advised my to play around a little more with a few of them as they didn't pop as much as the others did. Taking this into consideration I want to maybe investigate into having a 3D effect over the top of one or two of them to give it that extra Neon feel.

For the first shoot of the week, i have decided to use print in my magazine- a how to style print 3 ways. some people are quite scared to colour and print clash, but i want to create a fashion shoot using high street items that shows that it can work and depending on how you wear it it doesn't need to be scary! I have chosen 5 main outfits with clashing floral, chain, geometric prints that are very in season, inspired by the new H&M collaboration with Versace. With the make up i want to create a really tanned/bronzed/shimmery face, with use of golds and browns for contouring rather than blacks. My model is 6ft tall. ginger and pale skin so instead of tanning the whole body I want to just use the face and then create Aztec themed 'tan-lines' instead of too  much jewellery, by use of a stencil , paints bronzer or fake tan! I will have to test first. However I spoke to my MUA about this and she said it may over complicate the whole design and if her face is really bronzed and the rest of her body isn't, then it would look strange.
Here are the outfits I have put together and the inspiration behind my shoot.

Progress Today

Today i have confirmed shoot ideas for my talent section. As all three live near/ within easy traveling distance to Farnham, i plan to travel there one weekend (to be confirmed by all parties). As Frankie works on Saturdays i will do her photoshoot on Sunday. She will be sending me pictures of her collections, she has three so far, and i can then style, accessorize and organise hair and make up and models for the shoot. The shoot i have planned to take place at Bourne Woods, Farnham Surrey, where Robin Hood was filmed. There are some really nice wooded areas and also grassy patches. I have to think about the weather however, as it may be really cold/wet/snowy. So need to keep an eye on the weather report and condition of terrain.
Also, as my friend who is the graphic designer that i will feature in my magazine, and the photographer, who is her boyfriend, I will be planning on doing a shoot with them on the Saturday before to get all three shoots and interviews out of the way and so i can start building up my content and copy for the zine itself. This will speed up the progression of my shoot by a large amount.

Nail Blog

In the past few weeks, I have created about 6 different tutorials for nails and am uploading them to the Blog that runs alongside my magazine today. I should have done it as i went along but because i have to edit the pictures it quite a long process. But Now i have finished editing i can upload them and get more interest in the blog. The problems i am facing are gaining enough recognition for the blog. My magazine does not depend on the blog but it is a nice addition to get the public to interact with the blog and suggest new designs and show the audience how to do them. So i will post it on Facebook and Twitter and any other social media sites so i can promote and create a buzz surrounding the blog and then will lead on to a buzz for the magazine.

Next Shoots

I have been planning a few shoots already as i need to get the ball rolling and do a lot of work now so i dont get overwhelmed!

I am going to collaborate again with a make up artist, Allie Meek i used in the neon shoot to showcase her work in my Zine. These are a few inspirational images i found that i wanted to do.

For the shoot with Knitwear designer Francesca Hughes,  i wanted to do a shoot based on Marie Zucker's work to compliment the craftsmanship and natural fabrics used. These are a few images i found from model mayhem too.

Also to build up my portfolio i want to create shoots that i would not normally style for. I hardly ever wear black because my hair is near black i don't like to wear it and therefore avoid it quite a lot so i would like to style a black themed shoot.
